GE: FOV Frequency | Siemens: FOV Read | Philips: FOV (Read)

FOV – Phase direction

Defines the field of view along the phase-encoding axis.

GE: FOV Phase | Siemens: FOV Phase | Philips: FOV (Phase)

Foldover direction (Phase)

GE: Phase FOV Direction | Siemens: Phase Encoding Direction | Philips: Phase Direction

Matrix size – Read (Frequency)

GE: Frequency Matrix | Siemens: Base Resolution | Philips: Reconstruction Matrix (Read)

Matrix size – Phase

Number of phase-encoding steps, influencing resolution and scan time.

GE: Phase Matrix | Siemens: Phase Resolution | Philips: Reconstruction Matrix (Phase)

Number of slices

Total number of acquired slices. When more than one slice is selected, additional slice-management options become available.

GE / Siemens / Philips: Number of Slices

Slice thickness

Physical thickness of each slice.

GE / Siemens / Philips: Slice Thickness

Slice gap

Spacing between slices to reduce cross-talk.

GE: Spacing | Siemens: Distance Factor | Philips: Slice Gap

Plane orientation

Acquisition plane: transaxial (axial), sagittal, or coronal.

GE: Scan Plane | Siemens: Orientation | Philips: Slice Orientation

Multi-slice mode (visible when multiple slices are selected)

Defines the order in which slices are acquired:

  • Sequential: slices are acquired in order.
  • Interleaved: slices are acquired in an alternating pattern to reduce slice cross-talk.

GE: Slice Order | Siemens: Multi-slice Mode | Philips: Slice Ordering

Sequence parameters

Effective TE (TE)

Time between RF excitation and echo formation, influencing image contrast.

GE / Siemens / Philips: TE

Repetition Time (TR)

Time between successive excitations of the same slice.

GE / Siemens / Philips: TR

Refocus Flip Angle

Flip angle of refocusing pulses, particularly important in FSE/TSE sequences.

GE: Refocus Angle | Siemens: Refocusing Flip Angle | Philips: Refocusing Angle

Bandwidth

Receiver bandwidth, affecting SNR, chemical shift, and distortion.

GE: Bandwidth | Siemens: Receiver Bandwidth | Philips: Bandwidth

Bandwidth per pixel

Bandwidth normalized per pixel; useful for understanding distortion behavior.

GE: BW/Pixel | Siemens: Pixel Bandwidth | Philips: Bandwidth per Pixel

NEX / NSA / Averages

Number of signal averages; increases SNR following the square-root relationship.

GE: NEX | Siemens: Averages | Philips: NSA

Foldover suppression

Reduces aliasing from anatomy outside the field of view.

GE: No Phase Wrap | Siemens: Anti-Aliasing | Philips: Foldover Suppression

Concatenations mode (visible when multiple slices are selected)

Controls how slices are grouped and acquired across TR periods:

  • Automatic: Corsmed selects the most efficient number of concatenations based on the number of slices and the selected TR.
  • Manual: allows direct input of the number of concatenations.

GE: # of Acquisitions | Siemens: Concatenations | Philips: Packages / Shot Mode

Special parameters

Parallel Imaging

Enables accelerated acquisition and displays the acceleration factor.

GE: ASSET/ARC | Siemens: mSENSE/GRAPPA | Philips: SENSE/GRAPPA

Fat suppression

Suppresses fat signal using spectral methods or inversion recovery pulses.

GE: FatSat / STIR | Siemens: Fat Sat / IR | Philips: SPIR / SPAIR / STIR

Fat sat Inversion Time (available when Fat suppression is set to IR pulse)

Timing for the applied Inversion Recovery Pulse

GE / Siemens / Philips: TI (inversion time)

Encoding order

Defines k-space filling strategy (default, centric, reversed-centric, reversed).

GE: Phase Encoding Order | Siemens: K-space Ordering | Philips: Profile Order

Turbo factor / ETL

Number of echoes acquired per TR in fast spin echo sequences.

GE: ETL | Siemens: Turbo Factor | Philips: TSE Factor

Partial Fourier

Acquires partial k-space to reduce scan time - if Parallel Imaging is set to SENSE or GRAPPA, this parameter becomes unavailable.

Options include phase-conjugate (half-Fourier), read-conjugate (partial echo), or off.

GE: Fractional NEX | Siemens: Partial Fourier | Philips: Halfscan

  • Partial Fourier factor (available when Partial Fourier is set to phase-conjugate or read-conjugate) - set from 0.6 to 1

Reconstruction parameters

Surface Coil Intensity Correction (SCIC)

Corrects signal inhomogeneity introduced by surface coils.

GE: PURE | Siemens: Prescan Normalize | Philips: CLEAR

Advanced parameters

The parameters available in this section depend heavily on the selected sequence type.

RF duration

Duration of RF pulses in milliseconds.

Enable saturation bands

Allows the use of saturation bands; when enabled, the number and thickness of bands are configured in the Geometry tab.

GE: Sat Bands | Siemens: Saturation Regions | Philips: Sat Bands

To move and angulate saturation bands, hold the “s” key simultaneously with the left click on the mouse.

knowledgebase

Use minimum echo spacing

Forces minimum echo spacing to replace effective TE.

Use effective TE

When disabled, minimum echo spacing replaces effective TE.

Enable multiple stacks

Enables acquisition using multiple slice stacks; when active, stack configuration becomes available in the Geometry tab - you can set number of stacks (no. slice groups), work independently on them by “selected slice group” and set number of slices and angulations per stack.

GE: Multiple Stacks | Siemens: Multi-Slab | Philips: Multi-Stack
